Daal Chawal

  • 11 cup yellow lentils (moong dal)
  • 22 cups basmati rice
  • 31 onion, chopped
  • 42 tomatoes, chopped
  • 52 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 61 tsp red chili powder
  • 71/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 81 tsp cumin seeds
  • 92 tbsp oil
  • 10Salt to taste
  • 11Fresh coriander
  • 12Lemon juice
Instructions

    Wash and cook lentils with turmeric until soft.

    Cook rice separately until fluffy.

    Heat oil, add cumin seeds. Add onions and cook until golden.

    Add ginger-garlic paste and tomatoes. Cook until soft.

    Add cooked lentils and spices. Simmer for 10 minutes.

    Add lemon juice and garnish with coriander.

    Serve hot dal over steamed rice.
